How to License Indicators in NinjaTrader 8 – Part 7

Want to license indicators in NinjaTrader 8? You will likely need to, as many day trading indicators are sold commercially. To grant licenses to such indicators, vendors often require clients to follow several steps. By following these steps, a client generates license information that specifies the individual’s unique computer. When the license is provided to the vendor, the vendor activates it for a specific duration.

If you try to use an indicator on an unlicensed computer, an error message will appear. This message encourages you to contact the vendor for activation assistance. In some cases, a computer upgrade or BIOS update may change your computer’s ID information, thus requiring you to follow the license steps again. You can follow the licensing steps before or after installing the indicator. It’s best to activate the indicator before trying to add it to a chart through the indicators window.

License Indicators for Professional Use

For example, let’s say you purchased the Trade Scalper indicator. After installing the indicator, you would do the following: NinjaTrader 8 Control Center > Help > 3rd Party Licensing > in the vendor name field, type in “DayTradeToWin” without quotes > in the user defined ID box, type in your first and last name without spaces > click Submit > the license (or Machine ID as it’s sometimes called) should appear > select the entire license and copy it (Ctrl+C or right-click > copy) > paste the license in an email to us or use the contact page on DayTradeToWin.com. Note that each vendor’s instructions for generating licenses vary. DayTradeToWin.com prefers to use the customer’s first and last name.
